Professional

  • Started my professional career as a faculty member in the Speech Communication Department, Minnesota State University, Mankato after completing my PhD work in 1985

  • After teaching for 19 years at MSU, having achieved the rank of Full Professor, I retired and relocated to Boise, ID in May 2005

  • My academic career and research interests were propelled by my community service interests and activities; namely working with the Dakota (Sioux) and other tribal groups on issues of reconciliation and healing the wounds of the past.

  • My professional career is broadening with plans to provide communication consulting services in the areas of: Education Specialist, Education Coordinator, In-service Communication Specialist, Assessment Specialist, and Grant Writing

  • Public Presentations are offered on the following topic areas: Models for Reconciliation, History of Reconciliation in Minnesota, Lessons Learned Working with Native Americans

Passions

  • Working with culturally diverse groups in the spirit of reconciliation.

  • Teaching persons how to become a competent communicator in all types of contexts, e.g., family, co-workers, etc.

  • Gardening – being in touch with the earth beneath me.

  • Spending time with my grandchildren and learning from them.

  • Traveling and discovering new people, places and things.
